School-based apprenticeships and traineeshipsYou also may be able to commence studies in a trade area of your choice while you complete your secondary education. For more information on how you can do this, contact your school's career counsellor or vocational education coordinator. A school-based apprenticeship or traineeship gives you the opportunity to get a head start on your career. You will study accredited pre-vocational subjects (off-the-job training at TAFE or a registered training organisation) and do a specified number of hours of on-the-job training with an employer. Check out Train and employ for more information.
