Direct employment

In Queensland, you have to be 'earning or learning' until you are 17 years of age.

This means that you have to either be at school, doing a TAFE course or working.

There are many ways to get into the manufacturing industry. You can start work after leaving school, do a school-based apprenticeship, a vocational study course at TAFE or an apprenticeship or traineeship.

If you decide to start work straight after finishing school you need to find an employer.

Check out the jobs available in Queensland now. Useful websites are Career One, JobSearch and Seek.

If you decide to start work straight away, it is recommended you work towards a post-school qualification later on.

Having a qualification will broaden your opportunities, which can often provide a more enjoyable and fulfilling career.
