Apprenticeships and traineeships

You will need to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship to become qualified in a manufacturing trade.

Apprenticeships and traineeships are training and employment arrangements between an employer and an apprentice or trainee.

Apprentices and trainees work full-time hours for the employer to learn the skills of the trade, while being paid.

Apprenticeships usually take four years to complete, and a traineeship can vary in length from one to three years.

You can also undertake off-the-job training. This type of training is available through various TAFE institutes and colleges, Skills Tech Australia and private training providers.
