Message from the Premier of Queensland

Manufacturing is a major pillar of the Queensland economy, contributing over $14.6 billion to the State's economic activity and standing as Queenslands largest provider of full-time jobs.

We are right behind the Smart State's manufacturing industry. Maintaining a competitive, sustainable and profitable manufacturing sector is a top priority for the Queensland Government.

We are working with industry, unions and the community to ensure Queensland has a vibrant and world-class manufacturing sector. We are dedicated to encouraging innovation and efficiency across the industry.

Over the last decade, the growth in employment and turnover in Queensland's manufacturing industry has significantly outstripped the national average.

Manufacturing is a principal driver of exports, investment, productivity growth and technological change. It offers exciting and rewarding career prospects in a wide range of areas, such as aviation, boatbuilding and biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

Workers are in high demand, meaning they are well paid and well regarded. With many qualifications being transferable and in-demand overseas, a career in manufacturing can also open the door to international travel and work experience.

I strongly encourage you to discover the benefits of our manufacturing industry and where a career in manufacturing can take you.

The Hon. Anna Bligh MP
Premier
